Invitation to tender to provide Skills for Care with a report on the economic value of the adult social care sector to the UK

An exciting opportunity is presented here for a short term project to analyse the contribution of the adult social care sector to the UK economy and its four constituent nations. Applications are welcomed from organisations or collaborative partnerships across all UK nations with relevant expertise in economic analysis and an understanding of adult social care.

The project is in two parts, with part one consisting of a review of recent or current work of a similar nature undertaken within the UK that will provide a benchmark of what is known about the value of adult social care and what further evaluation is required. This review will determine the final shape and approach to part two. Part two is expected to provide an analysis at UK and the four country levels of the direct, indirect and induced impact of adult social care on the UK economy and those of the four nations.

The work is being commissioned by Skills for Care on behalf of the UK-wide sector skills council, Skills for Care & Development. The report on part one should be completed by the end of October 2017, with part two completed by the end of February 2018. Skills for Care & Development will then arrange for a Welsh translation before preparing for a simultaneous publication of the English and Welsh reports in quarter one of 2018/19.
